The short version

whatsrenewing emails you before something renews, and keeps a tally of what you’ve saved from the prices you tell us. It’s free, and it doesn’t advise you on what to do next.

Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee. Email gets delayed and filtered, and a date typed in wrong gives you a reminder on the wrong day, so don’t let this be your only record.

Delete your account whenever you like.

This box is a summary, not the policy. What follows is.

Who you’re dealing with

whatsrenewing is run by someone in England. Using the site means agreeing to this page. If you don’t, don’t make an account.

What it does, and what it doesn’t

It holds the renewal dates you give it, emails you before each one, and works out what you’ve saved from the prices you enter afterwards.

It doesn’t shop around for you and it doesn’t tell you what to buy. Nothing here is financial advice and we aren’t authorised to give any. For advice about insurance, a mortgage or anything else regulated, speak to someone authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Every figure on Your money is worked out from prices you typed in yourself. We don’t use averages or estimates, so if a number looks wrong, check what’s recorded against that renewal.

Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee

This is the part worth reading twice.

  • Email can be delayed, filtered into spam, blocked by your provider or lost. None of that is in our hands.
  • The site can be down, or a reminder can fail to go out, and you might not notice until the date has passed.
  • We remind you about the date you gave us. A date entered wrong gives you a reminder on the wrong day, and we have no way of knowing.

So acting on a renewal stays yours. Keep your own eye on the dates that matter, especially where a notice period is involved.

Your account

  • You need to be 18 or over.
  • One account per person, and the renewals in it should be yours or your household’s.
  • Use an email address you can actually read — it’s where every reminder goes.
  • Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.

The emails we’ll send

Part of the service, because they are the service:

  • A reminder 28 days and 7 days before a renewal. You can change both per renewal, add one 60 days out for anything with a long notice period, or turn them off.
  • If a renewal date goes past and you haven’t told us what happened, one email two days later asking whether it renewed. Just the one.
  • If you track monthly subscriptions, an email every three months asking whether you’re still using them.
  • Account emails: confirming your address, resetting your password.

That’s all. We don’t send marketing emails. You can switch off the reminders, the “did it renew?” email and the check-in on your account page; the account emails always go out, because they’re how you get back in.

What you put in stays yours

Your renewals and your notes are yours. You’re giving us permission to store them and use them to run the service for you — send the reminders, work out the totals — and nothing else.

Don’t put in anything you haven’t the right to, and please keep policy numbers, account numbers and anything else sensitive out of the notes field. We don’t need them.

What it costs

Nothing. There’s no card to add and no trial to cancel. If that ever changes, we’ll tell you before it does and you’ll have time to decide.

It may change, and it may stop

We add, change and remove things as the product develops, so a feature you use today might work differently tomorrow. We don’t promise the site will always be available.

If we ever shut it down we’ll give you notice and enough time to get your data out.

Where we stand if it goes wrong

We won’t try to wriggle out of anything the law doesn’t let us: that means death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and anything else that can’t be excluded.

Beyond that, we aren’t responsible for money you lose because a reminder didn’t arrive, arrived late, or carried a date you’d entered wrong — including a renewal that rolled over at a higher price than you’d have paid elsewhere. whatsrenewing is free, and a free reminder can’t carry the cost of a renewal it didn’t reach you about.

None of this affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other consumer protection you have.

Ending it

Email hello@whatsrenewing.com and we’ll delete your account and everything in it.

We can suspend or close an account being used to send spam, break the law, or attack the service. We’ll tell you why where we’re able to.

If these terms change

The date at the top changes with them, and we’ll email you about anything significant. If you don’t like a change, delete your account — that’s the whole of your exposure here.

Which law applies

The law of England and Wales and its courts. Wherever you are, you keep whatever rights your own local consumer law gives you.
